OSHP Members: 

Greetings to all OSHP members from the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee.  The Oregon Board of Pharmacy has undertaken a periodic review of the entire section 855 of the Oregon Administrative Rules governing pharmacy practice as is part of their responsibility to the public. The Board has a vision of making the rules more useful and relevant to todays pharmacy practice.   OSHP has been following this review, and provided input on various topics on your behalf in public testimony and has been pleased with the dialog and approach the Oregon Board has taken in this comprehensive and difficult task.   

One area is of critical importance to health system practitioners.  The practice of Collaborative Drug Therapy Management which all of us use daily to improve and optimize our patient’s health outcomes.  The Board has sought changes to the rules in this area and we have asked them to convene a Rules Advisory Committee to advise them on changes to these rules. They have agreed to this, and this group will meet formally on May 4, 2023. Public Notice of this meeting has been published and you may listen in to this meeting as described in that notice.  

Due to the importance of this to all our members, OSHP is holding an all-member discussion and listening session on April 27, 2023 at 7pm by Zoom to gather your concerns, thoughts and proposals for consideration by the OSHP representatives to this Board of Pharmacy Rules Advisory Committee.  You may register using this link.  

Please find attached the current definitions of Clinical Pharmacy Agreements and Collaborative Drug Therapy Management as well as the Proposed Language for the revised OAR 855-115-0315 for your reference.   If you are interested in this issue, please join us on Thursday for the discussion.
