Top 5 FAQ from RPDs, Preceptors, and Residents:

Q1: When will the schedule of topics and presenters be available?
A1: The committee has received and reviewed all abstracts and is setting them into tracks and getting CE approval. We anticipate sending the draft schedule to RPDs on Friday 5/15. RPDs will have until Wednesday 5/20 to submit any corrections or major conflicts. We anticipate the final schedule will be published for all participants by Friday 5/22.

Q2: How will presentations be conducted?
A2: We will be using the Zoom meeting platform and presenters will share their screen and run the presentation from their own device. The limits of Zoom functionality only allow the use of PowerPoint "presenter mode" if the presenter has dual screens. Conference hosts will be supporting and facilitating the meeting sessions and remotely checking in speakers the morning of the conference. Opportunities to test out the platform and practice sharing presentations will be available the week before the conference but is not required. An orientation video and signups for the optional "tech check" will be sent to all registered presenters on 5/22.

Q3: How will attendees access and remotely attend the conference?
A3: Participants will receive an email with the conference schedule and instructions, links and password details, tech specifications and connectivity tips, and conference etiquette from [email protected] 48 hours before the event begins. Participants will be able to navigate between tracks during breaks. We will be asking RPD/RPC and preceptors to commit to serving as a track facilitator for part of their attendance time to insure that presenters receive preceptor critiques in addition to feedback from resident/fellow peers. An orientation video for track facilitators and signups will be sent to all registered RPD/RPC and preceptors on 5/22. A conference orientation video and optional "tech check" opportunty will be sent to all registrants the week of the conference.

Q4: Should residents still send their slides to their RPD by 5/15 now that the conference has gone virtual?
A4: Yes, please send them. We will still be collecting slides from RPDs for three reasons: 1) so RPDs can review and approve the final presentations consistent with their site standards and the published NWSRC guidance, 2) so we have slides available as a fail-safe for the facilitator to display in case the presenter cannot share their screen, and 3) to meet the requirements for certifying CE. RPDs-If your site has policies against releasing slide originals, please message Rebecca Britton with the reason and contact information in case the Boards of Pharmacy request followup.

Ideally we would still like to collect the majority of presentation slides by the original date of 5/15, but if residents are anticipating more updated results they may work out an alternate upload date with their RPD that is no later than Thursday 5/28. RPDs can submit the slides labeled as PresenterLastNameFirstName_SiteName by either: 1) direct upload to NWSRC Google Drive: link or email to Rebecca Britton ([email protected]).

Q5: Will there be Preceptor Development topics for CE?
A5: Yes! We have two wonderful topics lined up that will be of interest to residents and preceptors. More info will be released in the program materials but here is a sneak peek at our distinguished faculty and the working titles of their presentations:

  • Using the Socratic method: The power of questions in building and assessing clinical reasoning skills. Presented by: Lindsay Davis, PharmD, ASH-CHC, BCPS, TTS, Associate Professor, Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Glendale, AZ
  • The Second Victims of Medication Errors: Peer Support for Pharmacy Staff. Presented by: Doug Meyer, BSPharm, MBA, RPh, BCNSP, Director of Pharmacy Services at Legacy Health - Meridian Park Campus, Tualatin, OR

Attendees will also be able to earn CE credit for attending resident major project presentations. The conference will be certified for CE for OR and WA licensees. We are not able to offer ACPE credit.
