Elected officers (see below for open positions) will serve to advance the OSHP mission: The Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists is a professional pharmacy organization that advocates for excellence in pharmacy practice. We strive to achieve this by supporting our members through:

  • Educational opportunities promoting optimal drug therapy
  • Provision of a forum for the exchange of ideas and opportunities, and
  • Interpretation and development of legislation relating to pharmacy practice standards.

OSHP is currently seeking the following professionals to serve in elected leadership positions:

  •     President-Elect (3 year commitment)
  •     Treasurer (2 year commitment)
  •     Junior Board Member-at-Large (2 year commitment)
  •     Northern Chapter Chair-Elect (2 year commitment)
  •     Southern Chapter Chair-Elect (2 year commitment)

Timeline for Nominations and Elections:

  • Nominations are open between NOW and January 28, 2024.
    • Nominations will close on January 28, 2024 at 11:59pm PST.
  • Elections will take place between March 1, 2024 and March 15, 2024.
    • Voting instructions will be provided when the ballot is distributed to the membership.

Open Positions for 2024-2025

Nominations for President-Elect 

The President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President when the President is unable to do so. The President-Elect shall be a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors and serve as Vice Chair of both.   The President-Elect shall assume other responsibilities as directed by the President. 

Prerequisites for position (required and recommended):

  • Required: Current Active Pharmacist Member in good standing
  • Recommended: Past OSHP service for at least 2 years with at least one year serving on the BOD (elected or appointed position).

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Expectations at BOD meetings:  The President-Elect will be an engaged participant at Board meetings.   In the event that the President is unable to lead the meeting, the President-Elect will act as Chairperson of the Board or Executive Committee.
  • Sign any required documents presented by Update Management Association Manager.
  • The President-Elect shall be a President-in-training during their tenure.  The President-Elect is included in most major decisions and activities.  He/she shall be available for the President for duties, meetings, etc. and assist the President as requested.
  • Represents OSHP at functions where the President is unable to do so.  
  • In anticipation of Presidential year, seeks advice of the presidential officers and UM Association Manager to develop the retreat agenda before end of term.
  • In anticipation of Presidential year, seeks advice of the presidential officers and UM Association Manager to form a list of appointees for chairpersons of the councils and committees and any ad hoc task forces or workgroups needed to complete the goals of the society.


Nominations for SECRETARY

The Secretary shall be a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors and shall serve as Secretary of both.  The Secretary shall record and maintain minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other meetings when directed by the President.  The Secretary shall conduct OSHP's correspondence as directed by the President.  The Secretary shall be elected on even number years.  

Prerequisites for position (required and recommended)

  • Required: Current Active Pharmacist Member in good standing.
  • Recommended: Past OSHP service for at least 2 years with at least one year serving on the BOD (elected or appointed position).

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Expectations at BOD meetings:  Responsible for preparing and submitting minutes for BOD approval and responsible for reporting on action items still pending.
  • Review financial documents, monthly payables and report to the Board.


Nominations for Northern and Southern Chapter Chair Elect

Each Active and Associate Member shall be assigned membership in the local chapter geographically closest to the member's residence or place of practice or, if the member so requests, another chapter of their choice. 

Area Chapters shall elect a Chair-elect to serve a one (1)-year term. The Chair-elect shall succeed the Chair of the Chapter, who shall serve as Chapter Chair for a one (1)-year term.  The Chairperson and Chairperson-elect shall coordinate activities of the Area Chapter and represent the Area Chapter as members of the Board of Directors of OSHP.

Prerequisites for position (required and recommended):

  • Required: Current Active Pharmacist Member in good standing.
  • Recommended: Past OSHP service for at least 1 year

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with: Chapter Chair, Update Management Association Manager
  • Represents health-system pharmacists in local Chapter at Board of Director’s meetings and in Councils and Committees 
  • Active participation in the development and fostering of the objectives of OSHP. 
  • Provision of continuing education meetings and social events for members; such meetings and events shall be conducted with approval of the Board of Directors of OSHP. 
  • Presides at Chapter meetings.
  • Routine communication to members of OSHP, including information for local Chapter meetings.
  • Develops budget requests, with board approval, for Chapter CE programs and social events.
  • Develops a yearly Chapter activities agenda and coordinates Chapter CE programs.
  • Contributes to OSHP newsletter, as applicable. 


Nominations for Junior Board Member-at-Large

There shall be two (2) elected Board Members-at-Large, designated as “Junior” Board Member-at-Large (JBML) and “Senior” Board Member-at-Large (SBML) depending on their respective year of service. They shall serve for a term of two years beginning with their installation at the Annual Meeting following their election. Board Members at Large serve as members of the Board of Directors of OSHP.

Prerequisites for position (required and recommended):

  • Required: Current Active Pharmacist Member in good standing.
  • Recommended: Past OSHP service for at least 2 years

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Senior Board Member-at-Large
  • Attends all full OSHP board meetings
  • Attends Board of Directors’ retreat in summer
  • Collects nominations for the election of delegates for the ASHP and Oregon House of Delegates, and presents nominees to the Board of Directors, coordinates ballot procedures with Update Management, and presents election results to Board of Directors and membership
  • Coordinate with current fellows to review applications for Fellowship (FOSHP) inductees, participate in selection, and coordinate with award presenters at Fall Seminar
  • Review OSHP Annual Seminar awards nominations and select awardees in collaboration with Senior Board Member at Large.
  • Fill in, as needed, on ad hoc committees.
